The Art of the Knuckle Sandwich:Ricky M. Hansen's story

Ricky Hansen may be from a small town, but this guy has a message bigger than life. He credits his inspiration to his Grandfather who showed him what life was truly about. Known in the town as “Grandpa Jim”, Ricky's grandfather was a selfless man with very little, who believed that no matter how little you have you always have something to give. His grandfather handed out “knuckle sandwiches” to under privileged kids in town… literally two pieces of bread smeared with “welfare” butter sealed with a double-sided, closed fist, heart-filled punch from Grandpa himself. The kids bit into them as if they were a well aged steak. Ricky held onto this memory during a time in his life when he was homeless with no real direction other than to be somewhere different than where he was. He grew up in hardship, has experienced family devastation, he has and still struggles with depression.
