What happened to Norma Houghland and her 2 young sons

It has been 35 years since Norma and her young sons where last seen in Sacramento CA. Norma disappeared along with her two sons, Thomas, 6 and Richard, 9 in July of 1978. It is thought that they went for a drive to escape the hot Sacramento heat because they had no air conditioning. Her sister does not feel that she left voluntarily with the intention of never returning. Normas gold Pontiac Le Mans has never been found.
