Corinne Jan graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and then attended the University of California, San Francisco, where she received a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing and public health nurse certification Today, she continues to involve herself with work that focuses on advocating for Asian immigrants' rights, equal access, and healthcare for seniors. In 2012 when the State budget cuts virtually decimated Family Bridges' two adult day healthcare sites, Corinne lead her team to testify in 186 fair hearings representing their frail seniors who had been denied services. Over 95% of those hearings were successful with an administrative law judge ruling that comprehensive healthcare services for over 200 monolingual chronically ill seniors would be restored. She previously served and continues to volunteer on boards and on committees such as the California Association of Adult Day Services, Neighborhood Law Corps, Asian Advisory Committee on Crime, the Oakland Police Department Recruitment Division, the Oakland Chinatown Lion's Club, the Alameda County Community Food Bank and the Oakland Asian Cultural Center. Last year Corinne was honored by the Center for Elders Independence for her leadership and commitment to serving Bay Area seniors. In 2005, Corinne was honored by UC Berkeley as a recipient of the prestigious national Peter E. Haas award for community service. She has also received recognition for her work from the Alameda County Bar Association, Social Security Administration, Asians for Corporate and Community Action and the City of Oakland, from both the City Council and Office of the Mayor.
