Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 415

Tonights special guest is Don Abernathy of Long Beach, California, who, with his brother David, runs a crime fighting organization called "Cuffed and Wanted." They generate a twice-a-month publication and web site (www.CuffedAndWanted.com) that educates and informs citizens about the people and services in their community, principally the area of Los Angeles County. Included is information on people who have recently been arrested or are currently wanted by city, county, state and federal law enforcement. The public can view daily arrest reports from around the county (about 800 arrests are made each day) and can also view current "wanted" info (they note that about 15% of the registered Sexual Offenders in LA County are in violation of their registration status). The bi-weekly "Cuffed and Wanted" publication empowers citizens with what is happening around them in their communities and neighborhoods, with an aim to give the community a greater awareness and understanding of what is going on, and knowledge is power. The many current changes in the criminal justice system and their impact on the cities, counties and state, are a concern to everyone. "Cuffed and Wanted" is a valuable publication for all law enforcement agencies and law abiding citizens in the diverse communities.
