The people we elect are called “representatives” — a highly technical term that means that theyre supposed to represent us. But more than just representing us, they represent our values and our principles. We the people are responsible for the character of our elected officials. If that body of elected officials be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption.
